At behest of Modi, Akali Dal Badal running campaign to defame farmers: Meet Hayer

Chandigarh, September 22 – Slamming the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal for its statement against the farmers’ organizations, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab MLA and Youth Wing state president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said at the behest of the Narendra Modi-led central government, the Akali Dal Badal was running a campaign to defame the farmers and instead of getting into a conflict situation, the Akali Dal Badal should answer the questions being asked by the people and the farmers of Punjab. He said this was not only said by the AAP but also by the leaders of the farmers’ organizations.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Wednesday, Meet Hayer said the Badals had once again proved that their relationship with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was still intact. “This is the reason that Harsimrat Kaur Badal as the Union Minister signed the ordinances and later the Badals publicized the farm laws for three months. Not only this, Parkash Singh Badal also released a eulogy video to convince the farmers by justifying the farm laws,” he added.

However, later when the people started opposing the Akali Dal Badal and banned their entry in the villages, like that of the BJP; they did a drama of Harsimrat Badal’s resignation by showing themselves as benevolent of the farmers, asserted Hayer. “The heart of the entire Badal family (Akali Dal) still beats for the BJP. The collaboration of the Badals and Modi is obvious,” he said.

Taking a dig at the Badals, Meet Hayer further said the silence of Paraksh Singh Badal by not saying anything against the anti-farmer laws and the Modi-led central government; proves that the Akali-BJP collusion was still maintained and that the Akali Dal and the BJP will once again form an alliance after the Assembly elections. “The common people of Punjab and the farmers have also started speaking about this. The leaders of the Akali Dal should give up the policy of suppressing the farmers’ movement,” he added.
